Transfer Errors- We have learned that many patients were incorrectly transferred to another doctor effective February 1 instead of when Dr. Barrett retires March 1, even though letters from Insurance companies listed a March 1 effective date. This has significant ramifications for your future care.

  • If you want to follow Brandie and Dr. Barrett to Edinger Medical Group, you need to call your insurance and make sure you are being assigned to an Edinger provider effective March 1.
    • YOU WILL NOT BE AUTOMATICALLY ASSIGNED TO AN EDINGER DOCTOR
  • For the rest of February, Dr. Barrett will see every HMO patient in the office, even if they have been assigned to a different doctor. He will not abandon anyone, whether he gets paid or not!
  • Final Week Schedule (February 23-27)
    • Routine appointments will not be scheduled, as most of these appointments should be scheduled with your new provider.
    • We will be in the office every day that week, packing and cleaning up the office
      • Everything has to go, including ALL the furniture, every picture, photograph, and decor item.
        • If there is something you want, come and get it!
    • If you want to say, “Goodbye” or “Thank you” to Dr. B or any of the staff, feel free to drop in. Dr. B will be in the office until at least noon every day that week.

Final Medical Instructions-

  1. Check your Prescriptions! Make sure you have enough to last until your first visit with your new provider. When the office closes at noon on Friday, February 27, our electronic record closes as well. Phone calls, refill requests, and portal messages will simply disappear.
  2. If you have an order for blood work or an xray, do it before February 13. Results of tests done after that date may not reach Dr. Barrett or Brandie in time.
  3. If you need to see a provider in March, we recommend calling his/her office ASAP. We have over 2000 patients in our practice, so offices are going to be swamped with appointment requests.

    Medical Records-Will follow Brandie and Dr. Barrett to Edinger Medical Group. Medical records will not be automatically transferred to a different provider. Patients who want their records sent to a new provider must request them in writing or via the patient portal before February 25. After that date, the portal will shut down, and records will have to be requested by writing to Medical Records c/o Edinger Medical Group, 20981 Magnolia Avenue, Huntington Beach, CA 92646

    What can I say other than, “Thank you.” Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your life. Thank you for sharing your hopes, dreams, sorrows, and fears with me.
